Hamstring Massage with Therapy Balls

Whenever I find myself confined to a seat for any period of time, I always do this therapy ball sequence to help release my hamstrings. Whether your hamstrings are tight from overuse, underuse, misuse or abuse, getting a soft and grippy therapy ball to massage into the many layers of hamstring tissue is a great way to improve flexibility and strength.

Grab your favorite soft, grippy therapy ball (you definitely do not want to use a hard tool like a golf, lacrosse or softball here – they can damage the delicate sciatic nerve!) and plop it under your thigh.

Spend a minimum of 2 minutes per side – trying to move your hip and knee in as many different positions as possible.

You can overstretch the hamstrings, so keep this to only a few times a week at most.
